Vale, Gomes, Maia and Francisco Rocha advance in Idanha-a-Nova

Hugo Maia, Duarte Vale, Miguel Gomes, and Francisco Rocha all qualified for the second round of the ITF M25 in Idanha-a-Nova on Tuesday, the second time in a row that this event has been held in the country’s central region. In the case of Duarte Vale, it is just another step forward in his first year as a professional, but for the other three young players, it is a huge win, as this is only their second and third ATP points, respectively.

First-round wins for both Vale (568th ATP) and Gomes (1616th ATP) came in straight sets over unranked Brazilians Martim Prata and Robin Betrand, respectively, in less than an hour (575th and fifth seed). Kelsey Stevenson, the 825th-ranked Canadian, was beaten 6-7(0), 7-6(1), 6-4, in 2h51 by unranked Brazilian Hugo Maia in a collegiate match.

Only Pedro Arajo and the other six Portuguese singles players in the tournament’s main draw will play on Tuesday in Idanha.

Hello, I'm Antonio Zaccaro, tennis lover since I was 13. I started this blog out of pure passion, and now it has become my job. I constantly follow all the tournaments and I am always updated on all the news. What I know, I share with all my readers. My considerations are the result of hours and hours spent in front of screens and on tennis courts.
