Vasco Prata guarantees first ATP point in Idanha; Faria also wins

Vasco Prata, who is only 18 years old but who last year followed in his brother’s footsteps by traveling to the United States to play in the university circuit there, earned his first ATP point on Wednesday by advancing to the second round of the ITF M25 Idanha-a-Nova, which is hosting another international event this week.

The young tennis player from Lisbon advanced to the second round by defeating his countryman Gonçalo Falco, ranked 160th on the ATP, 6-2, 6-2. The match lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes and featured no major drama.

Since Jaime Faria also won on Wednesday, Idanha now has seven guaranteed Portuguese in the second round. The 18-year-old, currently ranked 1090 on the ATP, won a match against Fábio Coelho, 1150, in Portugal in 1 hour and 40 minutes with scores of 6-1, 2-6, and 6-2.

Duarte Vale, Pedro Arajo, Miguel Gomes, Hugo Maia, and Francisco Rocha are joined by Prata and Faria in the next round. As of this past Wednesday, both Tiago Torres and Guilherme Severin had been eliminated, but Martim Simes would still have a chance to play today.

Hello, I'm Antonio Zaccaro, tennis lover since I was 13. I started this blog out of pure passion, and now it has become my job. I constantly follow all the tournaments and I am always updated on all the news. What I know, I share with all my readers. My considerations are the result of hours and hours spent in front of screens and on tennis courts.
