Max Purcell, an Australian who specializes in doubles, thinks Nick Kyrgios is a huge draw for tennis and one of the most exciting players in the world. Kyrgios, 27, is frequently at the center of controversy, but the truth is that he draws sold-out crowds to his matches.

I think Nick is great for the sport,” Purcell told Mirror. “To put it bluntly, he fills empty seats. I look forward to every match he plays in, but especially those in which he faces off against the best players in the world. Nick is simply Nick. Since he is so well-liked, it is acceptable for him to act in whatever way he sees fit.

The fact that Nick, who doesn’t exactly give 110% on the practice court (or even practice that much), can still trouble the best players in the world is a testament to his talent and draws crowds to watch and emulate him.

For the time being, he remains one of the most intriguing athletes to follow.”

During the Australian Open, Kyrgios was not pleased with comments made by Purcell.

Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis won the 2018 Australian Open doubles title with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Purcell and Matt Ebden.

Purcell stated, “acting extremely disrespectful to their opponents” after the match regarding Kyrgios and Kokkinakis. As soon as Kyrgios heard what Purcell had to say, he responded, “As for Max Purcell, you donut, regarding your comments after the match, you clearly have no idea about entertainment and sport. If you you haven’t noticed there’s a reason why people actually come to my matches, it’s because the level and my game are actually worth watching.”

Although Purcell and his doubles partner Ebden were unable to win a Grand Slam title individually at the Australian Open, they did so at Wimbledon. Meanwhile, Kyrgios came up short in his bid to win his first Grand Slam singles title at Wimbledon, losing in the final to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
