Francisca Jorge’s week came to a close with the addition of a new trophy to her mantle. For the second time in her career, the top-ranked player in her country and an Australian named Alexandra Bozovic won the Figueira da Foz International Ladies Open, a $25,000 ITF doubles tournament.
Kika and her sister Matilde won the doubles championship in Guimares, Portugal, last week. They defeated Pei-Chi Lee and Fang-Hsien Wu of Taiwan 6-2, 3-6, 12-10.
This brings Francisca Jorge’s total number of international doubles trophies to eleven, including the three she won with her sister at Santa Margherita de Pula, Montemor-o-Novo, and Guimares this season.
