What Dominic Thiem’s return to winning means for his loved ones

Dominic Thiem, the third-ranked player in the world before suffering a wrist injury, has said that his victories mean a lot not just to him, but to his family and coaching staff, who also went through a tough time while he was out. The 28-year-old Thiem hurt his wrist during the Mallorca Open in June of 2021.

Even though he came back to play in March, Thiem was sidelined for a much longer period of time than anyone had anticipated. Thiem is starting to find his footing again after losing his first seven matches upon his return, as he advanced to the quarterfinals in Bastad last week and the semifinals in Gstaad this week.

“The family is rarely mentioned, but everyone knows it was a difficult time. They were horrible to me for a long time while I was recovering from the injury, and I imagine they still aren’t sure when I’ll be back to full health.

Since victories have returned, I imagine they are reveling in the good times as well. Of course, it means a lot to me and means a lot of support when people from the outside can give me a lot of energy “Those words came from Thiem.

Dominic Thiem discusses the impact of his recent victory on his team and his loved ones, as well as the role his relationship with coach @massunico has played in his development as a player.

Since Madrid 2021, Domi has not been this far in an ATP tournament.

Thiem hired Massu for the 2019 season after parting ways with his long-time coach, Gunter Bresnik.

It wasn’t until the 2020 US Open that Thiem won his first Grand Slam tournament. “Together, we accomplished incredible things and got through a rough patch. It wasn’t easy for him because he wasn’t there often, but I think it made for a stronger relationship in the end.

Obviously, he was resting comfortably in Chile, oblivious to the status of my injured wrist and my recovery. When I finally got a good hit in, he started up again. So, I take it that was a rough patch for him, and I’m thrilled for him that positive signs are emerging, “In Thiem’s words.
