Arajo, the third-seeded player and number 569 in the ATP rankings, defeated Miguel Gomes, who was ranked 1617th, 6-3, 6-2 in a match in which he amassed six service breaks. He is currently getting ready to face unranked Frenchman Adan Freire da Silva in the matchup for a spot in the quarterfinals.
In response, Francisco Rocha (1867th), a player on the American collegiate tour, defeated Gaulish Matt Ponchet (1626th) by a score of 6-3 and 6-0. The next opponent is fellow countryman Martim Prata.
