On Tuesday, Anett Kontaveit triumphed in her first-round match at the Prague Open. A 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ekaterine Gorgodze of Georgia took the top-seeded Estonian just 48 minutes to complete. In the first set, Kontaveit won 77% of the points on her first serve, while her opponent won only 46%, and 86% of the points on her return of her opponent’s second serve.
No break points were attempted against the world no. 2 and six of her ten break point opportunities against Gorgodze’s serve were successful. Kontaveit will face Lucie Havlickova, a wild card entrant from the Czech Republic, in the second round. In their first match, Havlickova defeated Barbora Palickova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 7-6(5).
Second-seeded Czech player In the nation’s capital, Barbora Krejcikova was victorious in her first-round match, as well. The defending champion at the French Open in 2020 won in one hour and seventeen minutes against Anna Blinkova, 6-3, 6-1.
