João Sousa eliminated in the Montreal qualifying round

Joo Sousa, the top-ranked player in his country and 58th in the ATP rankings, was shocked this past Saturday in the first round of qualifying for the ATP Masters 1000 of Montreal, Canada, where he was defending his third seed status. As a result, he lost all hope of making his first appearance in the main draw of a Masters 1000 since Miami.

The vimaranense lost to Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler, the 100th ATP, by 6-3 and 7-6(2) in 1h32, in a match in which the Swiss was better in the crucial points, highlighting once more how unconfident the Portuguese are at this time. This after a first half of the season of remarkable quality.

Sousa will compete at Cincinnati’s ATP Masters 1000 the following week, where he also has a seed in the qualifying round.

Hello, I'm Antonio Zaccaro, tennis lover since I was 13. I started this blog out of pure passion, and now it has become my job. I constantly follow all the tournaments and I am always updated on all the news. What I know, I share with all my readers. My considerations are the result of hours and hours spent in front of screens and on tennis courts.
