Duarte Vale, who is ranked 520 in the ATP rankings, got back to winning after two more difficult weeks when he won against a local player to earn a spot in the round of 16 of the ITF M25 of Padua in Italy.
The 23-year-old Cascais native overcame the area’s number 833 ATP player Andrea Basso in the first round in a one-sided match in just 1:20.
The winner of the match between the first-seeded and 821st-ranked Italian Fausto Tabacco and the Spanish Eduardo Esteve Lobato will face Vale in the second round.
