At Wimbledon, Nadal, 36, suffered a stomach ailment.
At the Montreal Masters this week, Nadal was supposed to begin his summer on hard courts, but he withdrew because to the abdominal problem. However, the most recent rumors state that Nadal is feeling better and will travel to Cincinnati on Thursday.
In Cincinnati, Nadal will make his 13th appearance. It’s interesting to note that Nadal hasn’t competed in Cincinnati since 2017. Nadal has only seen success in Cincinnati, where he defeated John Isner in the 2013 Cincinnati final to win the tournament’s lone trophy.
Last week, Nadal experienced a “slight problem” during a practice.
Following Wimbledon, tennis was said that Nadal was recovering well from his abdominal injury and would likely compete in Montreal. Up until last week, when Nadal experienced a “slight irritation” in his stomach region during practice, everything was going smoothly.
Nadal stated last week, “I have been practicing for a long now without serving and started with serves four days ago. “Everything is proceeding smoothly. But after my usual practice yesterday, I experienced a minor ache in my abdomen, which persisted today.
We prefer to proceed cautiously and wait a few more days before competing after consulting with my doctor. I want to express my gratitude to Eugene, the tournament director, and his entire staff for their support and understanding of my choice.
I regret so much not going to Montréal at last. I enjoy competing in this tournament, which I have won five times. I sincerely hope I can return there and perform in front of the incredible audiences up there. How far Nadal can advance in this summer’s first challenging tournament is still up in the air.
