Since coming in second place in Birmingham, Cirstea hasn’t played well.
Cirstea reached the final in Birmingham, kicking off her grass season with a solid performance. Cirstea lost in a hard-fought three-set match in the Birmingham championship match.
Cirstea’s form slipped after a promising start to her grass season. Cirstea quit from her subsequent match against Anhelina Kalinina in the first round at Eastbourne with a set deficit. Cirstea then competed in Wimbledon‘s last grass season competition.
Cirstea ended her two-match losing record at The All England Club as she overcame Aleksandra Krunic in the opening round. However, Cirstea was unable to put together a winning streak since she lost to Tatjana Maria in the next round of Wimbledon, ending her Wimbledon run.
After Wimbledon, Cirstea began her summer season on Prague’s hard courts. Cirstea didn’t fare well in Prague as she was eliminated in the first round of the competition. Cirstea isn’t playing this week in Toronto, and it doesn’t look like she’ll be ready to play again the following week in Cincinnati. Cirstea’s ability to participate in the US Open, which begins on August 29, is still unknown.
