Despite coming in second at the US Open, Ons Jabeur maintained her sense of humor, stating that if Iga Swiatek ever gives her a Rolex watch, she will forget about him. After losing to Swiatek, Jabeur, the fifth-seeded player in the US Open main event, suffered back-to-back Grand Slam final defeats.
Swiatek defeated Jabeur 6-2 7-6 (5) on Saturday. In the Rome final in May, Jabeur lost to Swiatek in straight sets. “I was joking when I said I don’t like Iga, but it will always be fun to compete against her.
If she gives me a Rolex or whatever, I’ll forget about her (laughs), “Jabeur said following the verdict.
No of the outcome, Ons has jokes.

Jabeur: Swiatek always picks the correct time to play.
With two victories this year, Swiatek now leads Jabeur 3-2 in their head-to-head matchups.
In her post-game press conference, Jabeur stated, “I believe in general [Swiatek just plays] better at the correct moment, at the critical points.” I believe she made significant progress from the start of last year to the beginning of this year again. She knows exactly what to do.
Swiatek got things going well, breaking Jabeur to take an early 3-0 lead. Jabeur, who had fallen down early on, came back and defeated Swiatek in the fifth game to trim the Polish lead to 3-2. Swiatek, who broke Jabeur again in the sixth and eighth games to win the first set, did not let losing an early break affect him.
Both players dropped their serves twice in the second set, which ended in a tiebreak. Jabeur had a 5-4 lead in the tie-break and was two points away from forcing a third set after saving a match point in the 12th game. But Swiatek rallied by taking the following three points to win the match in straight sets.
