How Tomic was defeated by Djokovic in Shanghai

In the second game, Djokovic had his first break point of the match, but Tomic held on to tie the first set at one game each.

Djokovic earned the first break of the match in the sixth game to take a 4-2 lead after failing to convert on his first break point. Djokovic‘s advantage, however, was short-lived because Tomic swiftly broke back in the seventh game. No more breaks were witnessed, so a tie-break was required to decide the first set.

The two players were level at four points each in the tie-break when Djokovic took the next two points to take the lead 6-4 and earn two successive set points. Tomic, however, resisted giving up and held onto those two successive set points to tie the tie-break at six points each.

Unfortunately for Tomic, he dropped the following two points as Djokovic narrowly defeated Tomic in the opening game. Tomic, who dropped the first set, was broken early in the second set as Djokovic took a 2-0 lead. In order to avoid losing by a double break and to reduce the lead to 2-1, Tomic saved a break point in the third game.

Tomic only managed to win one game, as Djokovic took the following four to take the match in two sets. Despite falling short against Djokovic, Tomic maintained his composure.
