Following her opening victory at the Australian Open, Jessica Pegula paid tribute to Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. At Melbourne Park, Pegula—whose family owns the NFL’s Buffalo Bills—demolished Jaqueline Cristian 6-0, 6-1 to go to the second round.

Immediately following her victory, Pegula scrawled “Go Bills” and the hashtag “3” on the camera lens. Wearing number three is Bills safety Hamlin, who had a heart episode two weeks ago while playing.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 34-31 in the NFL Wild Card Round on Sunday.

Pegula enjoys “flying under the radar.”

Pegula lost just one point in her Australian Open first-round encounter after destroying Iga Swiatek 6-2, 6-2 at the United Cup. Despite being ranked third in the globe, Swiatek and Ons Jabeur seem to be receiving more attention than Pegula.

Pegula doesn’t mind, though, as she enjoys her covert position. “Oh, perhaps. Yes, I believe that might be the case. I believe that my personality and age are equally as important. You know, I feel like girls like Iga or Ons’ stories might be a little bit more, I dunno, attention-grabbing.

Ons, for what she is doing for the African region from which she is originally from, among other things, and then obviously for making two slam finals. Iga was younger when he first appeared on the scene and had incredible match winning streaks.

I suppose they might attract more attention than I do. I believe that I have merely flown beneath the media’s notice, but I don’t mind that. That, in my opinion, fits both my personality and me. I don’t believe I do enough to truly attract a lot of attention.

So, maybe, yeah. But I believe it’s appropriate, “Sportskeeda quotes Pegula as saying. Pegula faces Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the second round of the Australian Open.
