Belinda Bencic admits that she is aware of all the speculation around her chances at the Australian Open, but she emphasized that she is working to “shut out the noise” and concentrate on her game. To advance to the third round at Melbourne Park, Bencic, who won Adelaide 2 the week before the Australian Open, upset Claire Liu 7-6 (3) 6-3.

Since the 2023 season has begun, Bencic has been dominant, and many people think that she is one of the top favorites to win the Australian Open. “You may occasionally feel wonderful. You can defeat the same opponent in the morning and triumph over them in the evening.

There are always so many variables. To say, “OK, just because now I won Adelaide, I won a few matches in a run, now suddenly I have to win the Australian Open,” would be extremely difficult for me. Everyone should feel free to claim that she is the favorite, has a chance, or has the potential to be one of the favorites.

Nevertheless, every game is unique. I’ve had enough of instances where I felt great during the competition and then, all of a sudden, the match starts and I find myself unable to play tennis. I need to shut out the noise outside and truly concentrate on what I need to achieve “As reported on the WTA website by Bencic.

Bencic tries to concentrate just on the tennis.

Following her victory in Adelaide 2, Bencic began her Australian Open campaign by defeating Viktoriya Tomova and Liu in consecutive straight sets. Bencic defeated Liu in straight sets, but it wasn’t that simple against the 62nd-ranked American.

Late in the first set, Liu was leading by a break and serving for the first point at 5-3. Bencic managed to push the set into a tie-break in the ninth game after fending off two consecutive break points. There, she converted her first set point to defeat the American and take the first game.

Bencic dropped her serve twice in the second set, but she still managed to win in straight sets by breaking Liu three times. Bencic will face Camila Giorgi in her ensuing Australian Open encounter.
