Iga Swiatek received some advice from Agnieszka Radwanska after the Pole’s dramatic Australian Open round-of-16 loss to Elena Rybakina. Radwanska suggested that Swiatek “focus on how to handle the pressure.” Swiatek, who captured two Grand Slam championships last year, was the overwhelming favorite to win the Australian Open.
But after losing to Rybakina 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16, Swiatek’s impressive run came to an end. Swiatek acknowledged the pressure was too much for her and she gave in after losing against Rybakina. She’s going to have a tremendously difficult season, in my opinion, because of all the pressure from the previous season.
She defends pretty much everything every single week, so it’s challenging and challenging because everyone wants to beat you because you are ranked No. 1 in the world. The primary thing she needs to concentrate on is how to handle pressure.
But despite the fact that she recently lost to Rybakina, who had just won Wimbledon, I still believe she will achieve amazing things this year. Rybakina was playing excellent tennis from the start to the finish, but the season isn’t finished yet, so I believe she will still succeed, Radwanska said Eurosport.
Swiatek, in Radwanska’s opinion, “has to work on how to handle the pressure.”
Swiatek had one of his most successful seasons in recent memory last season. Last year, Swiatek won 37 straight matches, breaking the previous record for the longest streak of victories on the WTA Tour in the twenty-first century.
Swiatek was predicted to win another Grand Slam in 2023 after a very strong 2022 season. Swiatek came up short in the year’s first Grand Slam competition. Swiatek will attempt to defend her French Open title in four months.
Swiatek’s preferred surface is still clay, and she will undoubtedly be the heavy favorite to win the French Open.
