In his professional life, Dominic Thiem is not having an easy time. The Austrian hasn’t had any highlights since winning his maiden Grand Slam and last major championship at Flushing Meadows; instead, setbacks and injuries have dominated his career.

He spent a considerable amount of time in the pits due to his acute wrist issue and lost touch with the top spots in the ranking. The man from Wiener Neustadt has fallen from the third spot, attained in March 2020, to the current position of 96 in the ranking, and he is desperately trying to get back to the tennis world that he describes.

The former US Open champion has lost practically all of his matches so far this season. The ones he endured against Andrey Rublev in the opening round of the Australian Open (3-0) and the ones against the Croatians Borna Gojo and Borna Coric, which resulted in their elimination in the Davis Cup match for his Austria, were without a doubt the most agonizing. In order from the most recent, he competed last night in Rio de Janeiro against Thiago Monteiro. He only managed to win once during his poor start to the season, defeating the Slovakian Alex Molcan in the opening round of the ATP competition in Buenos Aires.

Yet, Thiem surprised everyone by preaching serenity during his news conference and expressing his confidence that his results and form will eventually improve. “Time is necessary for me to uncover my true self. Whoever controls the baseline points on this court wins the match.

The journey takes time, but I don’t worry about it; instead, I focus on doing my best on the track and trying to live in the now without worrying about the future.”

Chizever considers Thiem.

Chizever discussed Dominic Thiem‘s challenging journey in a conversation on the Tennis Channel-Inside In podcast.

“That is really agonizing to watch. Instead of being so critical of Thiem, I feel terrible and believe that his battle reveals so much about how hard tennis is “said he. “I concur that Thiem will never again rank among the top 10 players according to the ATP rankings.

I observed him playing indoor tennis in the Davis Cup. He does not want to be there, therefore. It was a good loss when he was defeated by Borna Coric. To Borna Gojo, he fell short. Not a huge loss, at least on paper. Yet, after watching it, I realized why he lost “Chizever observed.
