As she signed autographs in Dubai, Cori Gauff made light of the fact that she “ruined a Gucci hat.” Gauff upset Madison Keys 6-2 7-5 on Thursday in the quarterfinal match in Dubai. One fan asked 2022 French Open finalist Gauff to sign his Gucci hat after the game. Gauff jokingly asked the fan, “Are you sure you want this wonderful hat signed,” as WTA‘s Instagram Story put it.

With the caption “Pretty sure I wrecked a Gucci hat today (face with tears of joy emoji),” Gauff uploaded it on her Instagram Stories.

Gauff failed to defeat Iga Swiatek for her first victory.

Gauff overcame Keys to earn a semifinal matchup in Dubai against Swiatek, who is ranked first.

Gauff lost against Swiatek in five of their initial encounters in straight sets each time. Unfortunately for Gauff, she was unable to defeat Swiatek in Dubai for her maiden victory. Gauff lost against Swiatek 6-4 6-2 in their sixth encounter.

Gauff said on Thursday that she made “something incorrect” in each of her first five encounters with Swiatek. She did, however, add that she felt she could defeat Swiatek in Dubai. “I messed up five times in a row!

She’s really playing excellent tennis right now, and that’s why she’s ranked No. 1 in the world. Tomorrow, I’m under no obligation. I’ve obviously improved since the last time I played her, so I just have to play my game. After all, a ranking is simply a number.

You simply have to enter the arena with the mindset that you can triumph, and I’ll do that tomorrow “Gauff stated before turning to face Swiatek. Gauff, meanwhile, had a strong Middle East Swing. Gauff had her first appearance since the Australian Open last week in Doha, where she advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Veronika Kudermetova. Gauff will now concentrate on getting ready for a WTA 1000 competition in Indian Wells.
