Markus Gunthardt, the director of the Stuttgart competition, praised Cori Gauff and Emma Raducanu for their potential to win the championship this week. In Stuttgart, 20-year-old Raducanu and 19-year-old Gauff will make their second appearances.

Raducanu lost to Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart tournament the previous year. Gauff, on the other hand, struggled in his Stuttgart debut after falling to Daria Kasatkina in the opening round. “It’s great that Coco and Emma will be attending.

They are two incredibly talented athletes that undoubtedly improve our tournament, according to Gunthardt, who was quoted by Sportskeeda.

Stuttgart manager: Raducanu and Gauff may succeed Stuttgart

Some of the biggest names in the sport, like Jabeur, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Caroline Garcia, etc., will compete in Stuttgart.

“Coco has the ability to eventually top the international rankings, without a doubt. She just turned 18 and still has a long way to go. She faces stiff competition, so the real question is whether she can pull it off.

She is a great player in my opinion who is always advancing, very athletic, a warrior, and someone who possesses all of the necessary qualities to establish herself at the top. She can probably make it all the way to the championship game here and take home the trophy.

Emma is basically in the same situation. After all, she has won a Grand Slam, which not many athletes can say. Although she is not seen of as a clay court specialist, Gunthardt continued, “If things go her way, she can go for the title despite the stiff competition.”

In Stuttgart, Raducanu was dealt a particularly difficult draw because her first-round opponent would be Jelena Ostapenko, the winner of the 2017 French Open. Raducanu would then face Ons Jabeur in the round of 16 if she were to defeat Ostapenko.

Gauff will take on Veronika Kudermetova in the round of 16 match in Stuttgart. Gauff and Raducanu are not in the same section of the draw because they can only face off in the Stuttgart championship.
