Cameron Norrie hopes Rafael Nadal returns to competition soon because he believes he always had “good results” after facing the Spaniard. The 27-year-old Norrie has faced Nadal five times. Their most recent encounter took place at the first United Cup, where Norrie defeated Nadal for the first time by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Norrie won Rio de Janeiro after the United Cup and came in second in Auckland and Buenos Aires. “Obviously, playing him on Rafa Nadal‘s court was special. I believe I played him for the first or second time then.

He played too well, and it was fairly special to play him for the first time on clay here on the court that bears his name. I always play incredibly well after a game with Rafa. I believe that while playing at that level, the results of the subsequent matches are always favorable.

I’m missing him now. In an interview with the ATP Tour, which was obtained by Sportskeeda, Norrie stated, “I need to see him back on tour soon.

Norrie won’t get another chance to play Nadal in Barcelona.

While Nadal withdrew from the competition due to an ongoing hip ailment, Norrie is taking part in the Barcelona Open this week.

In the Barcelona quarterfinal from two years ago, Norrie faced off against Nadal. Back then, Nadal frequently defeated Norrie by a score of 6-1 6-4. Nadal hoped to begin his clay season this week after not competing since the Australian Open.

Sadly, that didn’t take place. “Since Barcelona is my adopted club, playing there always brings about a special sensation, so this event holds a special place in my heart. Although I’m not yet totally ready, I’m working on getting ready for my comeback to competition,” Nadal wrote on Instagram last week. When Norrie will get another opportunity to compete against Nadal is still unknown.
